The ideal marketing team, in our experience, includes the following hierarchy:
- CMO (Chief Marketing Officer); Also known as “Director of Marketing”, “VP Marketing” or “Head of Marketing”. – This person is in charge of strategy and of hiring and managing other marketing managers and service providers.
- Marketing manager(s) – These are people who actually execute the strategy and they can be or do anything from: content creation and management, operations and marcom, design, social media to SEO and PPC campaigns. All of these can also be done by external (outsourced) agencies or freelance service providers.
- Additional people you may need: Video editors, graphic designers, presentation designers, booth designer for trade shows and more – usually outsourced on a per-project basis.
- Marketing manager(s) – These are people who actually execute the strategy and they can be or do anything from: content creation and management, operations and marcom, design, social media to SEO and PPC campaigns. All of these can also be done by external (outsourced) agencies or freelance service providers.
